Quality Assurance and Food Safety Manager
Koegel Meats Inc. in Flint, Michigan is seeking a Food Safety professional to help develop and lead our
Quality Assurance Team.
As the Quality Assurance Manager, one will carry out all duties as primary SQF practitioner and lead a
team to ensure products meet or exceed customer, GFSI and USDA requirements for quality and food
safety. This includes monitoring and developing food safety and quality assurance methods, audits, and
continuous improvement initiatives.
Additionally, one should be willing to learn our plant processes and provide technical advice to support
our production operations from a food safety standpoint.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- SQF plan/procedure design and implementation.
- SQF, HACCP and general records maintenance and oversight.
- Food safety equipment calibration and troubleshooting.
- Design and implement continuous improvement initiatives and procedures.
- Monitor overall product quality.
- Coordinate and communicate with USDA.
- Coordinate and communicate with HACCP team.
- Coordinate and manage external audits including SQF, GMP, FSA, etc.
- All duties related to effectively managing a QA department/team to ensure proper team
dynamics and adherence to USDA, SQF, HACCP, customer requirements and the Koegel Meats
standard.
QUALIFICATIONS
- HACCP certification.
- Experience with designing/complying with HACCP procedures, paperwork and compliance.
- SQF certification/education.
- Experience as SQF practitioner.
- Experience with designing/writing SQF procedures and plans.
- Experience with SQF procedures, paperwork and compliance.
- Ability to design and optimize quality related standard operating procedures.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to design and oversee internal QA audits.
- Exceptional food safety related data analysis skills. Including identifying trends and corrective
actions based on test and internal audit results.
- Exceptional communication skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate food safety and quality assurance initiatives and procedures
to employees, supervisors and management.
- Ability to adapt to a continually changing and demanding regulatory environment.
- Excellent organizational skills
- History of a high degree of self-motivation and good attendance.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills.
- Utilize and maintain inventory on laboratory and sanitation supplies.
- Quality oral/written communication skills.
- Ability to adequately manage team workload with limited supervision.
- Proficient in Window’s office suite.
